Industry News - Negative floral press
A member in California told us about a negative flower remark she heard on Fox News. On the May 31 broadcast of America’s News HQ, host Julie Banderas, who is in the middle of planning her wedding, asked host Gregg Jarrett if he knew of any good florists. His answer: Flowers are a waste of money.

We sent an email, fax and letter to Mr. Jarrett to ask him to stop talking bad about flowers and enlighten him about the emotional health benefits of flowers. We explain flowers are more than a mere decoration. We tell him about the research from Harvard Medical School and Rutgers University that show flowers increase happiness and life satisfaction and ease worry and anxiety.

We also sent an email, fax and a letter to Ms. Banderas to help her plan her wedding. We point out the tips posted on www.aboutflowers.com — specifically on the wedding section at www.aboutflowers.com/flower-holidays-occassions-a-parties/weddings.html. Posted are tips on how to choose a wedding florist, FAQs, suggested items that should be included in the wedding florist agreement, bouquet trends, creative wedding ceremony and reception flowers, and a directory of our SAF member florists.

Members can read the text of both letters on our Negative Publicity Response page.
